Our Pyxis Engineer has come to our facility and tested with us using the Procar. I believe she is able to divert the test interface messages through this method. Under very carefully controlled circumstances, we've sent a TEST patient ADT to a unit's LIVE Pyxis dispensing machine and verified that the data flowed. We were also able to verify that the BAR interface from Pyxis to Meditech was also working. The test information was then removed from the Pyxis. We have one and it is invaluable. We have it in our training room. We use to for testing and can use for Nurses that need to practice. Talk to your sales rep with Pyxis. If you are a larger customer, there may not be much of a charge to provide a TEST system. As an aside, I was told last time I was at training at Meditech, that a future version of MAGIC will have a "dispensing machine" emulator that will allow testing a vending machine without the actual hardware. Didn't get any details. HTH Jeff Thompson, R.Ph.
