Here's some interesting facts about MicroMedex: There are 188,187 items in the current MicroMedex drug file. All items have "deactivate" (no longer made, etc) and "reactivate" (being made again after a deactivate?) flags and dates associated with them. Of the 188,187 items: 89,482 have never been deactivated. 94,836 were deactivated and never reactivated. Of these, 54,896 were deactivated before the year 2000. Guess how many drugs show up in your suspense file... Here's a test: the oldest deactivate date without a reactivate is for NDC 00081079899 (Polysporin powder), which was deactivated on 7/1/1985 (> 20 years ago). Try to enter this NDC number as a new item from the suspense file and you can, without any warnings. It's obvious that Meditech dutifully dumps everything (all 188,187 items) from MicroMedex into the suspense file even though about half of them are no longer active NDC's. Almost a third of them have been inactive since before Y2K. No wonder it takes so long to load MicroMedex! The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== This is just FYI - How to speed up your Micromedex load times. We are Magic 5.4 (below documentation states 5.5,but you can get it in 5.4) We use to have load times of Micromedex of about 6 - 8 hours. Then a "fix" was put in to speed up the load and something with RXM. Our load times went up to 40 hours - 48 hours! After way too much frustration and not getting anywhere, I called Micromedex. They pointed me to their website. (info below). I had done everything on the below documentation except 1 thing! - I was still using the old 3.x workstation I switched to the NUI 4.20b, my load times went from 40 hours to 1 hour 22 minutes I don't know why, but I've reproduced it multiple times. The NUI is many times faster for loading MDX FSV. Hope this helps someone avoid the same problems I had. You must also upgrade to Workstation 4.20. Follow these steps. In TEST 5.5 or higher: 1. Have Meditech load DTS 7071 and DTS 7566. 2. Downloaded the new GUI workstation software version 4.20. 3. Manage and telnet the PC to directly connect to your Pharmacy machine. 4. Set the Negotiate Remote Read setting to "N" in the E/E Termservers, PCs, RemoteHosts routine. 5. Run the Micromedex load in one file set (A FULL FILE LIST). Note: If you experience problems, run the Micromedex load in three file sets. Please contact MEDITECH for more information. -------------From Micromedex web site * end *------------------- _______________________________________________ meditech-l mailing list [email protected] http://mtusers.com/mailman/listinfo/meditech-l _______________________________________________ meditech-l mailing list [email protected] http://mtusers.com/mailman/listinfo/meditech-l
