Our helpdesk resets Meditech PINS (we have network authentication, and they reset network passwords also). The Helpdesk folks have access to our HR system and can see names, birthdates and last 4 digits of SS# in order to identify the person before doing a reset. We are currently working on setting up a similar database for non-employees, i.e. physicians, office staff, insurance folks, etc. For now, non-employees can get a reset by having an employee call for them; the employee is then identified and asked to check the non-employees picture ID before the reset is done.
