I agree 1000%.... I sent several weeks of research to Meditech, detailing
state (SD) and federal law on the issue of signatures, co-signatures, and
residency requirements, when a signature is not needed, when it is....

I got NOTHING back.

Good luck, it stopped our implementation for MPM... (in other words FAT
CHANCE!) The process is broke, doesn't work, and needs to be NOT ignored by
BOTH Meditech and LSS.

By the way, I'm up to 5+ sites with a Residency program using Meditech..... I
think we need our OWN parameters to control this separately from a
non-residency situation. (Yes, I'm keeping track when I can glean that a site
has a Residency program... I think we are an untapped resource, and software
marketing differential capacity exists.) Especially where the opportunity
exists to TRAIN the physicians on electronic records from the ground up.

I haven't heard of ANY other software which can handle the residency signature
requirements uniquely different than a post-graduate/residency "regular old
signatures" situation. Any one else?

(for instance, the signature requirements are different in the physician's
clinic {LSS} than they are at the hospital. At the hospital, a Resident can
sign for any outpatient diagnostic or therapeutic, non-invasive procedures. At
the clinic, everything MUST be CO-SIGNED. BUT!!! The Resident's Signature
can't be considered a "legal" signature at the clinic. LSS & Meditech both use
Meditech's signature convention, so it just don't work, as once the document is
"signed" by the Resident, it can't be changed without "addendas". Unacceptable
in my view, and our residency program director's view as well.

Can you tell, I've fought this battle and LOST!?

We all need to push Meditech to find a solution for the co-sig issue.
We've all worked around it long enough - it needs fixin'!

We do have Physical Therapist that "co-sign" the documentation of the techs.
They do do this by editing the original documentation. However, we keep all
documentation so that we can see what was originally
documented vs. what was edited.

Also, keep in mind that the therapist is responsible for what the tech does.
