are the pcs on arms, we have terminals in every room in closed cabinet

 - where have you placed the pc to make convenient for all,  It is on the foot of the bed wall. Not all are pleased. Expecially in SP rooms. The SSAs and NAs love them because they can quickly sign in and document then move on.
 - what do you do in two patient rooms, etc?  THe nurses like the hallway stations.

How many carts and tablets do you have in addition to the hardwired in-room pc?  We have had three differant wireless carts. Our own, Stinger and Elivator. They were all abandoned by nursing. (I now have a personnal opinion regarding IT and Nur... IT should not be in the way or cause any extra duty for clinical areas to perform thier jobs. No one should have to go get something to do a job. No one should have to remember to plug things in or change batteries or even sign in every time they want to do something. Not nursing. So in my opinion IT should be available where the nurse needs it with the least interferance. Proximity badges, single sign on, easy access wanding/barcoding and yes a computer in every room if you want documentation on interventions that they are doing throughout the shift. If just shift summary documenation then a PC in room would only help with on line mar and bmv)

Do staff find this a much better solution, and they always do POC documentation now?? SOME

Do the rounding physicians use the hardwired in-room pc or do they carry a tablet? NITHER

Also, for any of you who've had pcs in rooms and are now adding more mobile solutions or have removed the pcs from the rooms, will you please speak up  also? That's us too because of the changing nur admin methods keep fluctating.

I cannot believe I'm even asking this, but here we go again.  The ongoing saga continues between some of the staff and senior management, who believe the answer to all point of care documentation issues, is to place hardwired pcs in all patient rooms and ME who totally disagrees !

If you have returned to hardwired pcs  in patient rooms,
 - are the pcs on arms,
 - where have you placed the pc to make convenient for all,
 - what do you do in two patient rooms, etc?

I appreciate everyone's time once again on this "perfect hardware" discussion that faces all of us !

Thanks,
