Hi all,

Our providers are trying to work toward fully using CPOE. In their
efforts, our surgeons are frustrated that their pre-op orders can't be
entered at the time they see the patient in their office. These offices
have access to the hospital system and are not currently using LSS. The
workflow that they are asking that we support is:

- see a patient in the office and determine that they will be scheduled
for surgery
- patient leaves and provider currently hand writes orders on order
sheet and places on front of office chart
- these orders sit on the chart until the office staff are aware of the
date of surgery, they then send the orders to PAT or ask the doctor to
enter the orders on the pre-reg account (you can guess how happy that
makes everyone)

What the providers want is the ability to place orders on some type of
account that can be quickly created at the time of the patient's office
visit (remember no LSS at this time) so they can place orders at the
point the patient leaves.

Is anyone doing anything like this?

We would really like to hear from you.

Thanks,
Teri
