Scott,
Are you using TCP clients throughout or UDP? We have yet to have that
issue and have taken a few updates since going up with TCP.
"One major benefit of the Client.MTAD is that it allows for more freedom
in handling client updates. Updates will only be checked if the shortcut
for the TCP client points to Client.MTAD. The shortcut can be changed to
point to CSMagic.exe in order to bypass the update process. In this
manner, 3rd-party utilities play a vital role in "pushing" the update
out to clients. When an update is available, the update will need to be
taken on the server handling the pushing of the update to the clients.
>From there, the 3rd-party utilities can push the update out to the
clients. A couple points to mention here is that only one of these
methods can be used. Either the Client.MTAD is used and MEDITECH
controls the update process, or the workstation shortcuts point directly
to CSMagic.exe and MEDITECH has no part in sending updates to clients.
The second new concept is that of an "optional update". When the update
is delivered to TEST, it gets flagged as "optional". In this mode, users
can sign onto LIVE/TEST without having any interruption to take an
update. If they wish to take the update, they simply right-click on the
shortcut and select the option to take the client update. The
Client.MTAD works in the same manner as described above in taking the
update. Users who do not take the update will be allowed to continue
working in the LIVE/TEST environment without issue."

Karen,
Heads up, if they do not log out of MT when they toggle the services,
your end users will lose anything that has not already been filed. This
creates for some pretty ticked off end users, if they have spent 30-45
minutes documenting in PCS, and get the server not responding message
when they go to file. We announce several hours ahead of time that we
are going to take a brief update and to log out prior to that after
filing. For small updates, we usually do it around noon and last for
10-15 minutes. As long as they know a head of time and it will be
brief, we have had few complaints.

Hello,
If you are a CS site, when taking updates for FS code are you having to
have ALL users log out of Meditech in order to receive the update
without issues? Or are you just having users take the update the next
time they log in?
If you are having all users log out of the system, how often are you
receiving updates and why this route rather than users just taking the
update the next log in?
Appreciate ALL feedback.
Thank you,
Karen Cedar
