We have been working with JJWild since the early 1990's . . . Their value is in their relationship with both Meditech and the other vendors that work thru them to run Meditech applications. We tried the Dell route (when they were standalone in sales and support) and it took three months to get a quote. We were handed to three different sales people, and the final quote was unintelligible. . .It scared us that even if they were cheaper, who knew what to do if we had issues. We have relationships with the same installers, sales people, and management that installed our system in the 90's, even though they've grown tremendously and so have we.
JJWild will not be the cheapest, but there will not be any finger pointing when you have an issue. . . you will also have a variety of vendor choice in both computing and storage, in case you have a preference. As we have matured as an IT Staff in the world of networks, we use them less for day to day issues, and more for long term planning, our core Meditech Servers and SANs, and other Meditech-centric issues that we need their expertise in. Hope that helps . . . that's our experience with them. . . . We never had any problem with them. Dell is another story. We have had such a nightmare with a Dell system (not through JJWild) that we would never get another one. All of our Magic systems are IBM servers. We have had only had an occasional hard drive go. 1 phone call and a tech and drive are here within 4 hours. <http://www.columbiamemorial.com> Michael LaForge Network Administrator Columbia Memorial Hospital 71 Prospect Avenue Hudson, NY 12534 <http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&addr=71+Prospect+Avenue&csz=H udson%2C+NY+12534&country=us> [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> tel: fax: (518) 828-8030 <http://www.plaxo.com/click_to_call?src=jj_signature&To=(518)+828-8030&E [EMAIL PROTECTED]> (518) 828-8370 Want a signature like this? <http://www.plaxo.com/signature?src=client_sig_212_1_card_sig> ________________________________ From: Mike McEldowney [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2007 10:10 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] Subject: Re: [MEDITECH-L] New hardware platform for Meditech Magic Danny, I had a similar machine to what your replacing, and wish I could have kept it. In the 8 years the machine was running we only lost 2 tape drives and 3 hard drives. We upgraded to Dell servers from JJWild with an EMC CX disk array. In less than 2 years since the install we have replaced 5 tape drives and 4 hard drives. The Dell/EMC machine is junk. Expensive junk. I have also had service issues with EMC. Every time we called in a hard drive for replacement we got invoiced for the call even though the array was under a service contract. I have been fighting them for more than 18 months on the issue and just got it fixed ( so they tell me, we'll find out the next time a hard drive goes toes up. ) I will not buy from JJWild or EMC again. I would suggest finding another vendor, such as Park Place. They handled the service on our old system and I was very pleased with them. I won't be renewing the service on this new machine with JJWild/EMC, I'm switching to Park Place. We currently have the DG Aviion 1400 servers with EMC clarion disk storage. I would appreciate any and all responses. Thanks, Danny Miles Jeff Anderson RMC
