Hi all,

We've been working on the ARM hard floating point port of MeeGo
(armv7hl) some more over the weekend with great results :)

Basically, we managed to build a copy of of Trunk:Testing and
Trunk:Handset for armv7hl with next to none build errors in record
time, can be seen on devel:hardfp:base and devel:hardfp:base:testrun
and devel:hardfp:base:testrun:handset. And we already had people
booting up to xterm with the binary package.

We have also integrated Jan-Simon Moeller's speedrpm, so we are down
to a build time of 11 minutes for a ARM kernel compared to an hour
before. And qt going from 1h45 minutes to 45 minutes build time. This
should help normal softfp as well.

We're mostly doing the work in #meego-arm IRC channel. so if you'd
like to follow the progress, that's the place.

Next steps are:

* getting an answer on what scheduler should be used in MeeGo.com OBS
for armv7hl
* the basic patch for rpm armv7hl getting admitted to Trunk:Testing
* Submitting patches to T:T
* Starting build in T:T

Hardfp related issues are tracked in a metabug:
http://bugs.meego.com/showdependencytree.cgi?id=11429&hide_resolved=0
and we will start to submit to the relevant areas soon.

Best regards,
Carsten Munk
