So, another update about how hardfp is going:

* RPM package changes were submitted to Trunk:Testing, needs another
notch as I took an old patch by accident.

* We've submitted basic armv7hl/armv7nhl updates to -x86 and -arm
packages in devel:toolchain (cross compilers)

* We've submitted speedrpm to devel:toolchain and described what it is
to meego-dev@

* We've succesfully booted up to Handset UX home screen + fennec
working with a hardfp image, so that's really impressive and will
hopefully lead to a shorter period between where we have to run both
softfp and hardfp builds.

For vendors wanting to use MeeGo ARM in 1.2, please contact your SoC
providers on the possibility to get float-abi=hard builds of any
closed source binaries. We'll try to help with eventual issues that
may arise with the changeover to hardfp.

Remaining issues:

* We'll patch OBS source code to add a 'armv7hl' scheduler - right now
we're piggy-backing on armv7el scheduler

* I'm having issues with glibc builds with mfpu=neon and -O3, causing
segmentation faults in libdl.so when running things like bash. -O2
works fine. Hints in this area welcome.

* I'm investigating Linaro 2010.12 to see if this fixes the NEON
issues. Downside of this is that it is actually 4.5.2 based, which we
don't have current program office approval for changing.

* More work on armv7nhl side as this needs to be ready for 1.2 too.

* More submissions and patches.

Best regards,
Carsten Munk
