I have been doing some investigation here. I can save us 10mb per app launched by trying to switch off opengl until we get the meego-graphics-system fixes in (bug 12929) which should help quite a bit. I'm also evaluating how to further slim down processes, etc. I wish I had another 12 hours in a day, or at least a little more time in my current ones to devote to this, as it's good fun. :) Performance-wise, things seem to actually function quite well, apart from some specific use-cases like photos constantly re-thumbnailing everything. > Also we need to fill the gaps regarding DE use cases (Dialer, SMS apps). My own thoughts are that there's actually another path: cherry-pick handset apps to the 'new' UX where there is no functional replacement. IMHO 1) is the best decision for the mid-long term, even if it's going to cause us some scramble in the next few weeks to poke at performance. It isn't based on a more-or-less dead technology, it hasn't been bitrotting for a year, etc. Best regards, Robin _______________________________________________ MeeGo-handset mailing list [email protected] http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-handset
