In a product, touch screen & LCD get disabled when you are on the phone (i.e. 
when the proximity sensor finds your face is close to your device.) This way we 
can avoid the problem you're mentioning and save the power.

The above sounds like a basic feature to have in the meego upstream, but I 
could not find one in the featurezilla. Jukka can comment? May be a good input 
to the Handset WG?

Agreed. AFIK, the right implementation goes so that, system detects the 
face-going-away and wakes up the touch screen & LCD before the user interacts 
with them.

To my knowledge, this feature does not exist in MeeGo 1.2.

DE stays close with the meego.com upstream. Would be great if you use the 
meego-UI (not maemo5) for your feedback. You may want to try out the new tablet 
UX on N900 and start sharing your thoughts on its usability.
