Hi,

as you've probably heard from the TSG leads at the MeeGo conference, one of the objectives of 1.2 is to stabilize and finish what 1.1 started around the handset experience. As part of this, the feature freeze this time is sort of done in steps, and for the kernel, being one of the more core components, the freeze is roughly one month away.

What does this mean?

I need to submit the feature complete/feature frozen kernel for December 17.
Realistically, that means that all features that people want to get into the MeeGo 1.2 kernel, need to be submitted on the mailing list a few days before that to give time for review, integration and testing.

After this date, only strict bugfixes will be accepted into the kernel; you need to assume that all feature kind of things that miss the cut-off are MeeGo 1.3 material. (I'm sure there might be an exception or two made, but those will be rather rare exceptions for low risk but exceptionally high value items)

Greetings,
    Arjan van de Ven
