We have here another kind of race-condition, that I did not anticipate in the first patch. sdhci_try_get_regulator() is called from the sdhci_slot_probe() function which calls mmc_rescan() in workqueue, who will run in the second CPU thread this will eventually run mmc_host_set_power(). The sdhci_slot_probe(), will continue, and cann mmc_host_start(), which calls mmc_host_set_power(), without claiming the host. This is your race.
