Not really. It has to be parallel to the xyz axes, and it has to be as wide as the whole computational cell.
In principle, if you wanted a strip of PML covering the middle of the computational cell or something like that, you could do it with the pml-profile parameter to the PML object. I'm not sure why you would want that capability, though...
