I'm pretty sure those commit SHAs are bad, since none except the last

Does your username contain unicode? If so this apparently crashes things:
    https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=709058

The fix looks reasonably simple and should go into the 1.8 branch
soonish. It may involving moving Meld preferences from roaming appdata
to local appdata, but other than that I think it's low impact.
