Ah gotcha. Yeah, we could easily cut most of YUI out of svn and probably should :) It also messes with the analysis from ohloh.net, which claims the project is mostly written in extremely well commented javascript. hehe.

Thanks again,

Hi Luke,

Actually, I downloaded the 10 MB melkjug code, and was surprised to find the YUI 7 mb file in there.

Keep up the good work and have a great week ahead. Make sure you add the user interactivity feature soon, you will go great distance. :)

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback. We're planning on rolling out mailing and posting to a few services in the next release, which should be... real soon now :) We don't currently have a way to discover or search for other people, but we're working on it. For now, you can directly share the URLs to the pages you create with folks you know. If you happen to know someone's username, you can visit their pages at http://melkjug.com/<username>.

I'm curious how you come up with 7MB... I only come up with about 520k for CSS + javascript? Let's compare notes. Even at 520k though, you're right, we could do significantly better... we're not even minifying javascript. We're pretty focused on working out what we want the UI to be like over trying to tighten things down at this point since the number of users / page hits is relatively small.

hey dudes, thanks for the melkjug code, but I was stunned to find that the UI code is over 7 MB. Was it absolutely necessary to invest so much code and space on UI? Further, you can also add a mailing/IM facility, where I can mail/IM my favourite feed link to my friends.

Also, a little more documentation and howto will really help a lot.

Keep up the good work.
Further, how do I know about other fellow milkmen availing melkjug? How can I view their posts and feeds? Please add this facility too..
