Steve (and CSMFO) -
For my past year in the CSMFO web, I've been a quiet participant because my
municipal management consulting work has been tied to specific clients and my
pro bono board work with a non-profit subsidiary of a governmental entity.
Saying that as a preamble response, I'll offer myself and my firm to help you
with a retreat that meets/exceeds your objectives.
My current clients include City of La Mesa (City management including finance
and FD), City of Vacaville (PD), City of San Diego (waste management), San
Diego Association of Governments (basic MAP program), San Diego CCDC (downtown
redevelopment), and a few others. (My background includes four years heading
the #1 - at the time - regional economic development organization in the state,
strongest academic background, 1993/94 commuting to Sacramento/working for the
State, mainly private sector with 10+ years consulting/strategic
management/facilitation work - and, hopefully forever, a sense of humor.)
My firm is MAP (Management Action Programs). We were founded in 1960 and are
based in Southern California, with eight offices throughout the West. Our
clients are 85% profit sector and 15% government/non-profit. Half of our
business is a core, year long program (developed in the 60's and fine tuned
only when appropriate) that focuses on identifying/reaffirming/achieving (City
and personal) goals, intertwined with significant individual manager/department
head building of management effectiveness, leadership skills,
communications/team building, organization development, goals and controls,
etc. Although the core framework is used for most clients, individual needs,
360's and a lot of other (meaningful) bells and whistles are involved with
sustained follow-up.
Your off-site needs are typical of what we do for clients when we first serve
them - or after the top management team has started their individual programs.
Please give me a call - and let's discuss your priorities/needs.
