MMWD owns houses on its' watershed. The houses are rented to rangers for an amount which is far below market. It is not a condition of employment that the rangers live in these houses (from what I have read this is the only thing that would exclude it from being considered part of gross income). My questions to those of you with a similar situation are: What do you charge for rent? Is this below market rates? If so, how much? How do you treat this benefit for tax purposes? Can you send me a copy of one of your rental / lease agreements? Thanks, Terry J. Stigall Finance Manager Marin Municipal Water District (415) 945-1420 (415) 927-4953 - Fax
