Summary of TOT survey.doc

Summary of TOT survey Camp Grounds & RV parks.

Thanks CSMFO members for your input on my Transient Occupancy Tax
question.

The cities of Sunnyvale, Pismo Beach, and Paso Robles provided Ordinance
material. Listed below is my original question and responses for cities that
collect the tax on camper, RVs, or Mobil Home parks that accept transients.

Question:

I am inquiring about the collection of transient occupancy tax (TOT) for
trailer courts, camps, park or lots where a trailer, recreational vehicle,
mobilehome, motorhome or other similar conveyance is occupied or intended or
designed for occupancy by transients for dwelling, lodging or sleeping
purposes. If your City collects TOT for the above mentioned purposes:
? How is the administrative/operational details handled?
? Is the tax handled the same as your Hotel transient tax? How is different?
? Please send Ordinances and / or Staff Reports.

City of El Cajon:

Recreational Vehicle/Travel Trailer Parks, which allow stays from one day on up
are, billed quarterly in the same manner as motels/hotels. They usually have a
blend of short and long-time customers. TOT applies to first 30 consecutive days,
unless there is a written contract for 30 days or longer.

Mobile home parks are not allowed to have travel trailers, and there are normally
monthly leases associated with staying at a mobile home park, which in our
ordinance means they are not defined as transients. John Sunkel [[EMAIL PROTECTED]

City of Paso Robles:

When a RV park was first proposed for Paso 4 or 5 years ago, we amended our
TOT ordinance (available on-line at City web site) to include RV parks. As
written, TOT is administrated much the same way as regular motel/hotels. Mike

City of Sunnyvale:

With respect to TOT, Sunnyvale taxes mobile homes or house trailers at a fixed
location. It is handled the same way as the tax for hotels. To my knowledge, the
mobile home parks in Sunnyvale are for non-transient residents (therefore, not
subject to TOT.) Therese BALBO [[EMAIL PROTECTED]]
