Hi David,

It appears that I wasn't too clear as to what MailZone is. It is a 3rd party
anti-virus scanning service - not anti-virus software. We started using MailZone late
last year to have them scan all our incoming Internet e-mail messages prior to being
received by us. Based on our number of users, it costs us about $100 per month for
this service. If a virus is detected, it is MailZone, not our anti-virus software,
that sends virus notification to the sender and to our network administrator. This
way, the threat of our network being infected by virus is reduced drastically. If
MailZone deems that incoming Internet e-mails are free of virus, then the messages are
redirected to our server for distribution to intended recipients. MailZone service
has benefitted us in the following important ways:

- As indicated, the chance of our networks and workstations being infected by
Internet e-mails has been reduced drastically as the detected viruses are kept and
destroyed by MailZone (private company).

- Reduced network down time. When an infected file could not be "cleaned" by our
network anti-virus software, it did what it supposed to do - network shutdown. Since
MailZone blocks all infected messages, our network will be shutdown a lot less.

- Reduced support time. With MailZone blocking most viruses, our network
administrator can direct his time troubleshooting other problems.

As you can tell, MailZone has been an excellent addition to our server and workstation
anti-virus software.

Our Norton Anti Virus also picked it up immediately (although I don't
believe it sends notice to the sender). The key to any anti-virus software
is keeping it updated whether it's Norton, McAfee or this one. Thanks.

addition to the normal workstation and server anti-virus software, I
strongly recommend that CSMFO members use the same 3rd party anti-virus
scanning services as we do here in Bellflower. Per attached e-mail
notification, MailZone (http://www.mailzone.net/) had already detected and
blocked the virus inadvertently sent by one of the CSMFO list members. Once
blocked, notification is sent to both the sender and the recipient's system
administrator. To date, this service has proven to be invaluable as it add
another layer of protection, as well as freeing up the system
administrator's time in terms of external threat to virus.
