The Town of Truckee currently contracts with the
Chamber of Commerce for Marketing & Promotions services. The amount
provided for this service is currently 10% of TOT collections. I would
like to recommend a cap on this amount, but am not sure what is
reasonable. The estimated TOT for the Town this fiscal year is
$840,000. We anticipate this growing at a significant rate with new hotels
being proposed in the near future. Our base population is approximately
12,000 with a few thousand second homes. Being in the Tahoe area, you can
imagine the tourist population that we often serve.
Would anyone have any ideas on how to come up with
a reasonable cap for the marketing & promotions contract? I would
appreciate any feedback you can provide by the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 25
(sorry for the short timeframe).
