Dear CSMFO Subcribers, A consultant recently advised our Main Street Program people that some cities have been establishing their own ISP sites and then offering area residents either free or highly discounted internet access. The purpose being that as subscribers purchase goods and materials over the internet, the City's ISP is automatically collecting sales taxes on these internet purchases for point of sale determination. Is this true? Are there any cities out there which have actually done this? I will share responses with the membership. Mike Compton Paso Robles
