Hello everyone:

I come before you to ask for information not on a financial matter but on a 
planning matter.  At our City Council meeting, several members asked whether 
we had a policy on naming/dedication of parks.  For the past two years, our 
City has been approached by residents asking the City to name parks after 
individuals who have provided volunteer services to our community.  We have 
traditionally asked for input prior to naming a park and have recieved 
numerous request.  The council has normally made the decision but is now 
looking to develop a policy on this issue.

In addition, a mayor has asked that we consider changing certain street name 
through the community to reflect names of prior mayors.  Members of the 
Council do not want the Planning dept to handle the name changes so they have 
asked staff to develop a policy.  

If any city have any policies that address these issues I would apprciate a 
copy fax or e-mail.  Once I recieve the information I would be happy to share
