Dear Southern CA Finance Counterparts - I would appreciate some info from you regarding SCE and their proposed change of UUT remittance which were advised of by letter dated May 5. The letter indicates they will switch from billed to an "as-collected" basis effective with May utility payments affecting the June UUT remittances. Our ordinance (Palos Verdes Estates) specifies that the utility shall report monthly the amount of UUT billed and "shall remit tax payments to the tax administrator in accordance with schedules established or approved by the tax administrator". Our past practice has been the 80/20 split. It remains our practice. Edison contends the vast majority of City ordinances indicate that UUT shall be remitted as collected and that they have been in violation of those ordinances. The change is being made to bring them into compliance - aren't you glad. Does your ordinance specify payment as collected, or does it indicate the same as PVE - utility shall report amount billed and remit per approved schedule?
