The City of Santa Maria is in the process of converting to a charter city, and the following question has been raised, "What are some examples of State mandates that the City of Santa Maria would not be required to comply with if we were a charter city?" Can those of you that work for charter cities provide me with some examples that I can discuss with my Council and quantify in terms of dollars. I have a Council meeting at 6:30 on Tuesday, May 16th so any answers I can get before this time would be greatly appreciated. Richard J.
