In late January, there was an email from the city of Monrovia asking if
someone had heard of Wayne Seminoff Company on recovery of unclaimed and
abandoned money for agencies. Soon thereafter I also received a letter from
the same company indicating our city has over $100,000 out there. I took the
recommendation from those who have responded and went to the state
controller's website www.sco.ca.gov as well as the LA county website
auditor.co.la.ca.us and found no money for our city. Interesting enough, I
recently received a call from the same company again. This time he claims
that we have $10,000 and it is from outstanding judgements. It is
interesting to know than in five months time the available money have
dropped 90%. Does anyone know where else can I find the money. I am already
on top of class action lawsuits and I am in charge of risk management, so I
do not know what he is referring to. If you recall, his fee of 45% is
outrageous.
