The City of Pleasanton Uniform Transient Occupancy Tax allows hotel guests to avoid the first 30 days of TOT if there is a written agreement signed on the first day of occupancy stating an intention to lodge for greater than 30 consecutive days (if for some reason the 30 consecutive days are not rented, the tax is collected). Many of our extended-stay hotels are giving the exemption for the 30 consecutive days absent the written agreement. It has not been our policy after an audit to require the hotel to pay the City the tax if it has not been collected. Do most cities collect the tax on the first 30 days and then discontinue the tax on the 31st day? I would like to change the ordinance to do away with the signed agreement clause and collect the tax on the first 30 days, without exception. I would like to hear what other cities are doing regarding the first 30 days. Dave Iremonger City of Pleasanton Treasury Manager (925) 931-5404 (925) 461-6855 (fax)
