Although I'm sure these are stoopid questions, and ones that I should know
the answers to, I don't, and before I pull my engine apart, I think I should
get reassurance that I'm not going to be too dissappointed, so:
1. The stock head on the L16; is it totally interchangable with the L18 -
i.e. is it possible to put the L16 head on an L18 block without having to
modify anything (Mounting holes etc), and if so, is it a good (well actually
cheap - I have one sitting at home) way of raising the compression. Also,
does anyone know any figures of peformance/compression ratios who has done
this?
2. The manifolds and twin SU's on an L16; can they be used on an L18 for
again a cheap temporary solution to more power? Or are the manifolds and or
carbies different on the different engine models?
The thing is, I have an L18 (sadly - stock) engine in my 510 at the moment,
and have a complete L16 sitting in my garden with twin SU's, and am looking
for any way to make my L18 peform better than it currently is, without
spending big, medium or even small bucks!!(Paying off a debt at the
moment)!! Any suggestions that aren't too complex would be EXTREMELY
helpful, becuase it's kind of sad to have a reasonably new 2.25 inch exhaust
and genie extractors for such a sad case of a slow-go engine!!
Thanks heaps - chris - [EMAIL PROTECTED]
