Would'nt it be better to just pack the bottom of the strutts with washers.
When I bought my 1600 some dill did the same thing and the threaded top had unscrewed
and everything was rattling around.It was very annoying to find that was what they had
done as the bearing was larger than the cap and had no chance of lasting(staying done
up).
Anyhow just a thought .Get back to me if you like what I had to say
