Excessive red hot carbon in the combustion chambers is usually the cause of
run on, but it is also helped by the carby idle setting being too high,
allowing fuel to flow easily into the engine. Often happens on a tired
engine when the idle setting screw is turned in to offset poor low speed
idling due to the worn engine.
