Kev,
Thanks for the info on the cortina diff mod. That price for the axle
respline and heat treatment is pretty good! Its good to see an active club
competition going up there. I think your SR1200 will be a force to contend
with as 170 Kw (230 hp) is easily achievable from a NA SR20. In the 1200
you will probably end up with a wet (fuelled) weight of approx 800 - 820
kg's ?, say 900kg with driver? This gives 900/170 = 5.294 kg/kw. Not bad
for a little 1200 huh!
Cheers
Feral Errol.

Feral Errol,
If I remember right, it is a cortina diff not a falcon, as it has mounts on
the top of it. A GM diff was not used as the ford has a wider ratio
selection.
The axles were shorterned and heat treated (at a cost of $400 each!, now
cost $75)
If I was to do it again, I would fit disc to it first up as now I have to
convert it with the new engine.
I had a look at you web site today (IT WORKED!). I will be in touch by
phone about some bits eg flywheel, clutch and maybe a computer.(I have had
a good look at the wolf 3D set up and at this stage its wins).
The club car seen up here is not too bad. We get a turn up of around 10-15
cars each meeting but a lot are chook cookers. I have the only 1200 just to
be different. 1600's, 180B's, a mitsasomething, Alfa and a couple of dunny
doors front up also.
The Mazda mostly run webers, the dunny doors are EFI and carby, the 180b's
are weber L18/L20B and so are the 1600's except for a FJ20 with webers.
I get around the track in 1.30.03 sec. A V8 super car does it in 1.09 sec.
The quickest under 2LT is a 1600 with a SR20 in it that lives in NSW I
think. It was up here for the V8's as we race as support for them.
O yeah, nearly forgot, I have a stock 1200 sedan front sway bar and no rear
one fitted. So we have plenty of room to go quicker.
