I just picked up a surge tank for my project car, it stands about 40cm tall,
it's about 1.5 litres... Should do nicely...
My question is... I need to mount it in the engine bay somewhere near the
driver's side, but I'm running out of room under the bonnet...
Is it legal / safe / practical to bolt the thing in front of the radiator,
and run the hoses under the battery and into the regular fuel system?
Next question... Failing that, is it a dumb thing to mount it on it's side
of on an angle? Or does it HAVE to be vertical?
The tank is the cylinder type, 1/2" connection at the bottom, and 2 x 1/4"
at the top on the other side, and a bendy 1/4" on the very top for a
flow-back thingymijig!
I would assume that it would be a lot cooler sticking it in front of the
radiator, but the question of legality and safety comes up then. What if I
have a front on bump or something like that... Switch the fuel system off
straight away? Jump out, and check the surge tank isn't pissing 1.5 litres
of fuel all over the road?!?!? Hmm...
