When speaking to the guys @ Shannon's they mentioned an imbolizer that used a
proximity sensor - was around $300 from memory.

Anyone tried one?

hey, u wanted to know about an immobiliser. i had one installed about
3months ago and its great. its like a pager with a little screen that
displays a picture of a car. it beeps like a phone to tell u when someone
is actually tampering with your car. its great cos its when they are
doing it not after. it has sensors for the boot, bonnet, and all doors. it
also has shock sensors and cuts ignition and starter motor. it has a
1kilometre radius but i find it usually can only pick up withing the
500mtr.
if you sound interested i can find out more info on it. i have the
booklet lying around here somewhere. its approx 3-$400. just reply back
if your interested.
