Dave,
If this was at a Nissan dealership then that's embarrassing. The 120Y was locally assembled with Japanese imported parts from 3/74 - 11/75 and Aussie built from 12/75 - 3/79. You can tell if yours is an odd ball as there are some out there when there were supply shortages due to industrial problems etc mainly by the electrics. If you've got all Hitachi or Mitsubishi then it's an import, Bosch and Lucas are Aussie content locally assembled. Also a second check is to have a look at the brand of your master cylinder although this is not conclusive as they were usually replaced with Aussie cylinders if the need arose.

Subject: 120Y Brakes

I went to buy new brake shoes for my 120Y today and they asked me a question I didn't know the answer to

him: "Are they the imported brakes or the australian ones?"
me : "They're the standard 120Y brakes"
him: "Yes but some had japanese brakes and some had australian"
me : "How do you tell?"
him: "It depends on the year model"
me : "Ok it's a 1977, what brakes are they?"
him: "I don't know, go to a brake specialists"

geez talk about customer service

anyways how do I tell which brakes I have so I can finish off my brakes tomorrow in time to get the car registered tomorrow before the D.O.T shuts

Thanks in advance guys 'n' gals
Dave
