If you have an original 4 speed box it will have wear in the selector
linkage where it attaches to the gear stick.  You can take the slop out by
filing the selector linkage flat each side where it raps around the
gearstick, then shim the gap.  This will take out the side play in the
gearstick, which is pretty horrible.  The click is standard.

Another fix is to install a 5 speed box.  If you already have a 5 speed, you
have lost the nylon bushes which go through the gearstick.  Replace them.
