Thanks for the info Terry, I have found some trumpets that are pretty much the same length as the ones in that ghastly orange plate (probably safe to stick to for the time being I imagine), should get a nice induction noise now too :o)   BTW, How much should a pair of Webers in reasonable nick cost?  What about an inlet manifold to suit?
