It depends on what the R180 diff is out of as some early 240 Zed diffs have
side axles like a R160, but the 240K/Skyline diff doesn't. They have a
trunnion fitting that looks much like the gearbox end of a tailshaft. If
your R180 has this type of fitting then you will need the 1/2 shafts as
well. Some versions of the R180 shafts are supposed to be stronger but I
think it's an urban myth, instead it's the trunnion fitting into the diff
that strengthens the driveline as a whole unit.

If I want to fit an R180 diff, do the driveshafts have to be changed as well
or can I leave the standard ones in? Are the R180 driveshafts stronger?
