If anyone other than Brad is interested, read on. I spoke to the Cummins
diesel man regarding block sleeving and cooling, here's what he said.
Sleeve material is very important but just as important is the tolerance
fit with dry liners. He mentioned a major player is rust/corrosion that
gets built up around the block walls in the coolant passages reducing
thermal conductivity signifigantly. He went on to say that 1-2weeks in a
block bath may be needed depending on corrosion. They use oil squirters
at the pistons/walls to help keep temps down and also run oil coolers
when required, and sometimes using a finned sump was enough. He also
mentioned using a piston surface design that allowed oil to enter the
fine grooves in the skirt area reducing friction and taking some
cylinder wall heat away in the oil. Also piston ring blowby is a factor.
In addition to this info I went back and read some of my American Turbo
magazines($15 bucks now!) on drag Honda's. It mentions using ductile
iron sleeving and revving them to 9000rpm running 24psi boost, they do
however only run ~80mm bore I think and races only last 9sec.

If anyone has any other ideas let me know.

Craig
