I am agreeing with Terry here - you are almost in stick with L-series
territory!
Think about it, the L series has had 30+ years of development, there is a
shitload of people that really know how to work an L16. People know what the
best head porting combos are, everything is swappable, etc, etc!

The CA16 would be good if it was twin cam and had twin 45s hanging off the
side! :) this could still be a goer but you will be learning yourself. I
don't know anyone who has worked a CA16, only CA18DET motors.

If you really want to get mad, a KA24E head will fit an L-series block (you
work out the timing cover config). This is SOHC 12 valve. You could get the
ccs welded up to lower the volume, keep the 2.4l sized valves and run a high
compression ratio. Use the KA24E efi manifold, etc, etc... hmmmm, you have
ME thinking again... :) But again not many people have worked a KA24, so who
knows what cam profile will work well for NA?
