Steve,
You will use these parts:- S2 electronic Bluebird dissy and coil L16, L18
or L20B distributor drive shaft. Oil pump gasket (if easily available)
Set engine on timing marker on compression stroke number one cylinder.
Remove the distributor and the bolt in distributor plate from the timing
cover. Note the exact orientation of the small dish on the dissy drive
shaft.
Undo 4 x 12mm oil pump bolts and remove the pump carefully. Push out the
distributor drive shaft and replace it with the L series drive shaft in
exact same orientation. Use a clean cloth to hold the shaft in position
temporarily.
Fit the new distributor to drive shaft and check that rotor orientation is
aligned with the poles on the cap. Also check that the knife edge inductors
segments are aligned with the posts. This is the firing position. Bolt the
distributor into the timing cover.
Replace the oil pump (new gasket if available) back into position, ensuring
the drive tang on the shaft is aligned & engaged in the pump shaft. Refit
the four oil pump bolts and tighten.
Connect the +VE lead of the coil to the +12V before the ballast resistor
for the inlet side plugs.
Check all connections and bolts again then start the engine.
Cheers
Feral Errol
