It can be done at home, but it needs a fair bit of care. It's a 2 or 3
person job.
Put the car out in the sun on a warm/hot day - the hotter the better (this
softens the rubber of the screen seal). After a couple of hours, go out
with your friend/s. You get in the car, your friend/s stands on the
outside. Now, put your feet up on the dash and place them at the top of
the screen near seal - DON'T put them in the middle of the screen!!
Ensuring that one of your friends has their hands where your feet are to
support the screen, start applying pressure. BEWARE!! - they tend to POP,
so you're friend/s should probably be applying a bit of pressure against
you. If it does pop, your friend/s job is to catch it - well not
literally, but he/she does need to stop it from leaping out onto the
ground. If it eases out, work your way around the screen with your feet,
with one of your friends following you with their hands.
Take your time and take care and it work's a treat. Rush it and it'll end
in tears. The trick is to make sure the seal has softened in the sun.

hi all
I was wondering if anyone has any tips for removing windscreens,
or is it a job best left to specialists? I need it out to renew the
headlining, so I'd prefer pull it out myself, do the work then pay for
someone to put it back in.
Any thoughts?
