Windage Trays

Well the countdown is on, one week until uni is finished for the semester and I head home to begin the Z-18et project stage one.  I've decided to build a windage tray and crankcase scraper to fit to the sump while I've got the engine apart.  I've been having trouble finding info on constructing such parts and any pictures of built ones. From what I have found I've come to the conclusion that the crank scraper should come within 5mm of the crank throw to adequaltely "scrape" oil from the crank.  Also I think 15mm? holes should be placed below each of the lower rod journals close to the scraper to aid oil drain back into the sump. I'm not sure about the actual tray itself.  Do I make it cover the entire sump and only have the four holes to aid drain back or do I drill some holes/slots in the bottom of the tray. I noticed that Simon deGroot who built a gorgeous 240Z left some sizeable gaps at the end of the tray, is this for drain back of oil? Any suggestions, comments (good or bad), pictures, advice will be greatly apprecitated.
