The shoulder was set back an inch. It doesn't need to be welded, just an
extra inch is reduced to the same diameter as the threaded portion on a
lathe. The new shoulder has a gentle radius to prevent the possibility of a
stress crack. I can take a pic of them mounted in the car if you wish.
