No I didn't touch them out of the box so that might explain why one of my
rotors got very hot for the first 5k's (smoked it), but after that was fine
and it only happened to one side. I put it down to may be I didn't home the
pistons quite all the way on that side but I could have been wrong about
this. It might be a good idea to give them a light rub, I don't think you
will need to take much off though. You'd get a fair idea once you've got
them on, spin the rotor and see how much pressure is on it.

I have managed to track down as set of ultimates as you suggested.
Did you have to modify the thickness of the pads. I have looked at the
discpads.com web page & they
list the DB1086 pads as 14.4mm where the DB1106 are only 13mm.
