I don't know about fitting to the 1200. A quicker ratio means that you need to move the steering wheel less turns to move the wheels, so instead of 3.6 turns lock-to-lock you might need 3.0 or 2.6. For me that meant most of the corners I take I don't need to take the hands of the wheels. It depends on how you like to drive, a quicker ratio means that on the highway it is a bit twitchy, but I have more castor so I don't get much problems.

Sounds like how my steering box used to be. I replaced it with a 120Y box. It has a quicker ratio but it bolts straight in and it was in better nick. I couldn't find a place that reconditioned boxes for less than $280, so I went with the second hand replacement.

Yeah i have trued to adjust it, and even when the adjusting screw is so far in i cant turn it any more i have the same problem. It is really starting to shit me because i am all over the road at high speeds and have no steering feedback and bad response when i go straight. Cornering is a bit better, but sometimes when you corner hard the wheel can go loose for a second and scare the shit out of you! I would be great if someone has a reconditioned box that they dont want, or somewhere they know i can pick one up. Thanks again, and sorry about the long post!
Cheers, Mark.

>> Hi all, my 1600 steering box has recently been getting worse and worse, probably something to do with having 195 front tyres, i was wondering if anyone on the list knows where i could buy a reconditioned 1600 box, or if anyone had one they wanted to sell??? I am in Melbourne by the way. Cheers and thanks in advance.
