hi, yes the counter weights need to be ground down. the guy at adelaide ,
ground the counter weights down to a l20b size..
to get this done and all journals ground and ballanced cost me $320 .
no there is no problem with the piston skirts hitting the counter weight
, when crank is modified as above.
due to the extra throw , you wuill have to use z-20 pistons ( mine bore is
1mm oversize) and l20 b rods. the z-20 pistons come in a dished and flat
top.
i got mine done by "crankshaft grinding specialist" in adelaide ,4-83
highbury st, prospect south aust. 5082. the number is 3447467. i think
there should be a `8` in front of the 3.
the block is ground on the inside only to clear the extra throw of the
crank with the conrod. you have to be carefull when grinding the oil
passage alond number 1 and 2 cylinders ( i`m pretty sure its no 2 as well,
you can clearly see the oil passage)
i also ground the bottom of the cyl bores to make sure there was enough
clearance for the rod, but you most probally dont need to do this.
