Title: RE: stroke length
You could, but the Z24's have a reasonable rod/stroke ratio anyway because the blocks are 20mm taller than the 2/2.2 litre blocks.  Also, the Z24 blocks are rumoured to be fairly shitty by comparison.  I think a Z22 with Z18 turbo gear on it would be the best and cheapest way of getting a big block Z turbo happening, (thats 2187cc)

Responding to some earlier posts, here's some capacities of various L/Z combinations:

86mm stroke (L20b)
----
Bore:
85    1952 (stock L20b)
86    1998
87    2044
88    2092
89    2140

92mm stroke (Z22)
---
Bore:
85    2088
86    2137
87    2187 (stock Z22)
88    2238
89    2289

96mm stroke (Z24)
---
Bore:
85    2179
86    2230
87    2282
88    2335
89    2389 (stock Z24)

has anyone ever put a shorter stroke crank into the 2.4 litre block?? Can you then use the long rods to get a really revvy combination?? I have no idea what sort of capacity you would end up with though. Just wondering.

    david,

my L/Z stroker is 2335 mL being 96mm stroke and 88mm bore (with flat tops). the navara z24 engine runs 96 x 89 = 2389mL.

sorry, i can't offer any advice for piston combos.

    dunc.
