Cephas,
You
don't require a BR with electronic ignition however you do need a coil that's
designed to be run with electronic ignition as they are different to a BR coil.
The best one to use is off the same donor for the dizzy, but similar equipped
cars from the same manufacturer are usually OK.

Terry
Listers,
I am new to the listing and I was hoping someone
could help me out.
I am working with a friend on a Z18 conversion.
The motor etc was bought as a going concern and of course it wasn't. The
latest problem (after finally having it run for an hour or so) is that the
coil has failed. We put in a new (second hand) one and hey presto it now works
but the question arose do we need a balast resistor or not. It appears from
reading through the previous listings that if it is an electronic distributor
you do NOT need a resistor but you do for points.
The bottom end and Turbo is a Z18. The head,
injection system and electronic distributor are from a Pintara. The computer
is a Microtech Digi 1.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Cephas
