Title: RE: smokey, l20/turbo/z18 head .efi.......

Even though you might have found the problem I just want to add that, if you over fill your oil then you will blow some smoke at idle.  I had a friend who was putting too much oil in his turbo VL and he was told that the oil was not returning into the sump and was leaking though the seals in the turbo.  He had a custom sump and dropped the amount of oil he was using and the smoke went away.  Has anyone else heard of this problem?

hi,  the turbo has been rebuilt, so i gave the engine  a comp test :
a dry test gave a reading ,varying  by about 5 psi at 125 psi. each cyl.
a wet  comp test gave a reading of about 175 psi in each cyl .varying by
    about 5-10 psi.

so looks liike the rings are stuffed.
ii dont know why, the rings and pistons are brand new, having done about 50
km before it started to blow smoke.

the injectors , the guy said when i got it tuned, are  running at about 90%
duty cycle.maybe  when i hit boost, its starting to lean out a   BIT  and
is causing the rings  to stuff up.?

i know that once  when i hit boost for a bit, it said "max duty" on the digi
one  display....maybe not supplying  quiet enough  petrol at max boost?

does any body know of  any top quality  rings i can get for it? pistons i am
    using is z20 pistons.

hope fully the pistons are okay, there is  no sign at all of breather  smoke
    out the rocker  cover .....
last time  the  piston (s) went (due to incorrect fuel settings?)  it blew a
heap of breather smoke.......so ...................i hope i dont have o buy
    another set.
